The Canton Rugby Women's Team is now forming with a base of 10 players, we are looking to add about 10-12 more! As our youth programs have grown, so has the need for us to have an 18+ women's team so that our high school girls players can keep on ruckin' after graduation! We hope to have enough ladies in spring 2022 to practice and scrimmage, and we anticipate having a full match schedule in 2023.

Major League Rugby describes the sport as "a game with heart and soul that echoes the best aspects of life. A game with the communal spirit that success is not measured in wins or losses, but in the growth of the game. The game of rugby isn't for anyone - it's for EVERYONE. An experience that captivates and forms connections well beyond the final whistle".

We describe it as the only sport you'll ever play where your team and the opposing team beat each other up on the field, and then join together afterwards for the home team's after-match social to eat and drink with each other!

Home matches are played at Weis Park in Canton, OH, which is northwest of the intersection 25th St NW and Market Ave N. Unless otherwise stated, kickoffs for all Home & Away matches are at 1pm.

RUGBY 101: Here's a fabulous link from USA Rugby explaining the fundamentals of the game:

Registration is now open for the Spring 2022 Women's Season. The total cost to play is $115.00 which is made in two payments - one to USA Rugby for CIPP Registration and one to Canton Rugby for Club Dues.

In order to be eligible to play in a rugby match, all players must be CIPPed. The Club Individualized Participation Program (CIPP) is USA Rugby's third party liability insurance coverage that protects you, the team, and the club from lawsuits that may arise from accidents that occur throughout the rugby year. Cost to CIPP is $65

Canton Rugby fundraises the majority of club operational costs. However, for the club to exist, we require club member dues in addition to our fundraising efforts. Player dues go towards indoor practice space, lining outdoor fields for practices and matches, referee costs, socials for after matches, purchasing team rugby equipment, team banquets, and awards. Women's Spring 2022 Dues: $50.
