Rugby has been a tradition in Canton since 1976 with its competition and comradeship with the Canton Rugby Football Club. It has helped people develop their team building skills, while providing an atmosphere of strategy, competition and physical fitness. Keeping the tradition alive is our major goal here in Canton. With this in mind, the Canton Rugby Football Club would like to invite you to be a part of one of the HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY TEAMS in the Northeast Ohio Youth Rugby League.
Based in Canton, the STARK COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY CLUB is an under 19 rugby football club open to all high school boys throughout Stark County. We are currently heading into our 5th season competing in the Northeast Ohio Youth Rugby League

All Home Games are played at Weiss Park located of off Logan Ave. & 25th Street N.W. (Just East of Malone College).
Practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday at Weiss Park from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

High School Rugby Team Stays Unbeaten
Cleveland,Oh - The Stark County High School Rugby Team traveled to Cleveland Sunday to take on the Parma High School Rugby Team. Stark County jumped out early to take a 5-0 lead when Malcolm Gager of Sandy Valley delivered a pop pass to Terrious Ross of Glenoak, who ran in for the first of many tries of the day. On the next drive Stark County continued to put on the offensive pressure with their forwards and backs, maintaining possession until Ross had his second try on a 15-meter run. With the extra point kick after by Gager the local boys had a 12-0 lead. Parma answered back with a try of their own to make the score 12-5. Midway through the first half the Stark County High School Team started the next score drive off of a line out and the forwards mauled their way down the field as Chris Wright of Jackson broke free and scored down the sideline on a 30-meter try to make the score 17-5. At the end of the first half Parma added another score to tighten things up to 17-10. At the start of the second half Stark County answered back with another long drive that saw the ball go through many hands until Wright scored from 15 meters out, 22-10. Not giving up, Parma again answered back with a score of their own to bring the match to 22-15. In the closing minutes out of a scrum down Dustin Hamric of Glenoak ran the ball and delivered a pop pass to Ross for his third score to secure the win for the Stark County High School Rugby Team, final score 27-15. The team takes their 2-0 record into Highland High School Wednesday April 8th at 5:30 p.m. The Stark County High School Rugby Team is always looking for new players to add to the team roster. Stark County High School Rugby Team Wins Season Opener
Canton,Oh - The Stark County High School Rugby Team played it's season opener this past Sunday against Lakewood High School on a cold and rainy day. The match started off slow for both sides and became a defensive struggle throughout the first half. Late in the first half the Stark County boys scored on a 15 meter run by Anthony Canfalone of Perry to take a 5 - 0 lead into halftime. As the rain let up so did the offense for the Stark County HS Rugby Club, on a penality play Malcolm Gager of Sandy Valley scored from 20 meters out to exteed the lead to 10-0. Midway through 2nd half Terrious Ross scored (2) long 40 meter tries to stretch the lead to 20-0. Late in the game has time was winding down Allen Steffl secured the Stark County High School Rugby Teams first win of the season with a 5 meter try. Final score 25-0 for the hometown boys in red and blue. Would like to thank the Ohio National Guard for there sponsorship this year as they awarded the new jerseys and kit for all the players before the game. The Stark County HS Rugby Team travels to Parma next week to take on Parma High School.

Stark County rugby team takes 3rd place

The Stark County Rugby Team took third place out of an 8 team bracket in the Northeast Ohio High School Rugby League. The team pulled through with a win over Revere on Friday night. Scoring for Stark County was J.D. Miller of Sandy Valley connecting on two penalty kicks for 6 points. Revere made their one penalty kick for 3 points. Stark County won 6-3 and advanced to Saturday mornings match against St. Ignatious. That match was another close one. Both teams traded penalty kicks going into half time for a 3-3 score. J.D. Miller scoring for Stark County. Midway through the second half, the St. Ignatious wing popped a kick and chase over the Stark County wing for the go ahead and final score making it an 8-3 final. Stark Count advanced to the consolation finals where they meet Hudson for third place finish in the league.

Stark County final tally for the season was 7-3, our best season to date. Great Job Boys,
